May is Mental Health Month and is a time to reach out and bring awareness. This is a subject that everyone should care about, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic has caused such an impact on the mental health of so many around the world. It’s more important than ever to reduce the stigma that comes with mental health. This stigma can prevent people from seeking help when it is needed. From time to time, we may all feel a little down and it is important to acknowledge this and to accept our feelings.

Accepting feelings and emotions is something that is not easy to do, yet can be very helpful. It may seem that it would be easier to simply try to forget them, however, when people with mental health issues try to get rid of emotions, it can become even worse at some point. Emotions are part of our system that helps us make decisions. Acceptance of your emotions means letting go of trying to control your emotions.

There may be times when you will need to trust that you will grow and learn from your experiences and will be better to remain open than to feel bad about yourself. By being honest with yourself and your feelings, you can bring yourself into your true light. Masking or trying to suppress feelings can only make them fester over time, creating more problems. These suppressed feelings will often manifest in physical ailments and pain. As these problems get worse, it can take longer to overcome them.

Being authentic can be a key factor when it comes to achieving a healthy mental state. According to Psychology Today, studies have shown that people who score higher on tests for authenticity are happier. By being your authentic self, you are more in tune with your inner feelings. You will also be more apt to make healthy choices and to recognize the early signs of illness, therefore, more likely to seek help rather than engage in self-destructive actions.

“You, yourself, as much as anybody else in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” -Buddha

We all go through challenging times. If someone you know may be struggling with mental issues, there are many ways to offer support. It is important to respond sensitively to someone who may seem dealing with a challenge. Being there as a friend to listen can be one of the most powerful ways to help. Listen carefully to what they tell you so they may feel understood. Know your limits, and if the problem appears serious, encourage them to seek professional help.

As an energy healer, I have helped many go through this process with ease using an alternative approach to wellness. We like to use flower essences and herbs to create a healthy way to heal. Our Home Healing Therapy flower essence kit has been a wonderful gift from Nature, shifting your energies slowly and safely.
