What makes you happy?
How does this type of a question make you feel?
Does it bring on more stress just thinking about it?
Do you allow your mind to wander to all the things that would make you happy, but at the end of those sentences you hear your small voice saying, “if only I had enough money, enough time, if I was retired……”But when you really think about happiness, it takes on different meanings dependent upon who you ask. Being happy isn’t necessarily based on what you have in material worth, but how you feel when you experience true happiness. Such as:
- The birth of a baby
- Your wedding day
- That day you met your true love
- Watching your grandkids play
- Helping someone in need
According to Wikipedia happiness means a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by, among others, positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.
Happiness is subjective to the person who feels it. It is rarely dependent on external or material things. Rather an emotional feeling or a trigger of a nice memory. Those emotions transport you to a place which in your mind’s eye is a place of bliss.
Your own happiness depends upon your own mental state and what that looks like in your mind’s eye. The next time someone asks you this question, dig deep inside yourself and figure out what that looks like for you.
